The sensitivity of 60 strains of Staphylococcus aureus and 70 strains of Streptococcus spp. in the Bovine Mastitis against seven antibiotics were measured and the results are:
1. The number of resistant strains among 60 strains of Staphylococcus aureus to penicillin, streptomycin, neomycin, novobiocin, oxytetracycline, erythromycin and chloramphenicol were 21(35.00%), 5(8.33%),48(80.00%), 7(ll.67%), 14(23.33%), 4(76.67%) and 22(36.67%) respectively.
2. The number of resistant strains of 70 strains of Streptococcus spp. against penicillin, streptomycin, neomycin, novobiocin, oxytetracycline, erythromycin and chloramphenicol were 44(62.86%), 4(5.7%), 54(77.14%), 3(4.29%), 16(22.86%), 32(45.71%) and 36(51.43%) respectively.
3. The minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) of antibiotics against staphylococcus aureus to penicillin, streptomycin, neomycin, novobiocin, oxytetracycline, erythromycin and chloramphenicol were 0.06 to 16§¶/ml, 0.25 to 256§¶/ml, 0.50 to 64§¶/ml, 0.25 to 32§¶/ml, 0.50 to 256§¶/ml, 0.25 to 256§¶/ml and 0.50 to 256§/ml respectively, and that against Streptococcus spp. to penicillin, streptomycin, neomycin, novobiocin, oxytetracycline, erythromycin and chloramphenicol were 0.06 to 16§¶/ml, 0. 12 to 256§¶/ml, 0.25 to 64§¶/ml, 0.25 to 128§¶/ml, 0.12 to 256§¶/ml, 0.50 to 256§¶/ml and 0.25 to 256§¶/ml respectively. The MIC antibiotics to Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus spp was similar.
